Lute Neck Reset: Verifying the Neck Angle After Completion

Verifying the Neck Angle After Completion

After the neck has been reset and glued, its correct angle is best verified with the strings. The top is attached to the body with tape, and the outermost strings are installed so that I can get a reading of the string action in the treble and the bass. This measurement is a reliable method to check the new neck angle. But one has to keep in mind that it may slightly increase under full tension when all strings are in place! After the top was glued, the string action was 0.2mm higher under full tension.
