A recommended string action for lute is considered to be 2.8mm on the treble side, and 4.5mm on the bass side. The incoming condition of this lute was with a string action of 4.3mm on the treble side, and 5.5mm on the bass side; so quite dramatically higher than the norm. The pictures below show the process of adjusting the neck angle.<\/p>\n<p>String action is measured at the 9th fret, and is the distance between the string underside and the fret top.<\/p>\n<p>This
